That was the Quo month that was ... February 2012

4th - "Just Quo" tribute band gig at Caboolture RSL, Queensland, Australia

Queensland Quo tribute Just Quo played a full set to an enthusiastic audience at the Caboolture RSL on February 4th. The gig marked the final performance for lead man David Cleminson, after a long career fronting a number of different Quo tributes in Australia.

The band kicked off with (what else?!) "Caroline" and the dance floor was immediately the place to be! "Something 'Bout You Baby I Like" and "Don't Waste My Time" highlighted Dave's great solo work before the band were joined on stage by Roy Lynes to help them out with "Rockin' All Over The World", "Down The Dustpipe" and "Roadhouse Blues".

A storming version of "Backwater" was next up before the "Railroad" medley, "I Saw The Light" and "Creepin' Up On You". Roy then came back for "Rave On", "Carol" and "Juniors Wailing".

Roy starred next with the Elvis classic "All Shook Up", before "The Anniversary Waltz" rounded out the first set.

The second set began with "Roll Over Lay Down", then "Paper Plane" and "Big Fat Mama" before the band launched into a 16-minute rendition of "4500 Times"/"Rain"! "Break The Rules", "Again and Again", "Old Time Rock And Roll", "Little Lady", "Whatever You Want" and "Down Down" finished off the main set.

With the crowd wanting more, the band pulled out "Rockin' All Over The World" once again (with Roy doing the honours on keys) to complete a great - albeit sad - night.

12th - "Edwards Family Values" gig featuring Rhino at The Westbury Arms, Wood Green, London

Rhino dusted off his bass to play a gig with his kids at The Westbury Arms in Wood Green on February 12th. As per the official website: "Rhino says "Woodedz, The Charge, The Dead Famous and Maybe Mae, all of which feature at least one member of the Edwards family, will be making an unholy din. Admission is free, that way if it's crap, no one can ask for their money back"!

Lloyd Gilbert was in residence to organise everything and the Woodedz setlist was a ripper, as follows.

Photos of all the bands in action can be found here.

13th - Andy Bown interview on BBC Radio Suffolk

Andy Bown gave a lengthy interview with BBC Radio Suffolk's Stephen Foster on February 13th. The first half of the interview focused on the "Unfinished Business" solo album (and his glowing endorsement of Mike Paxman!), before retracing some of Andy's musical history (including Live Aid, The Herd, Judas Jump and Pink Floyd). He also discussed Quo's longevity and highlights during his time with the band. He also indicated that the Winter tour would be an arena-only affair in 2012 and hinted at a Bown solo tour later in the year too!

Throughout the course of the interview, Stephen played "Don't Drive My Car" (live 2010), "Ruby and Roy", "Built To Last" and finally "Again and Again".

26th - Reunion article in The Sunday Mirror

The following article appeared in the UK's Sunday Mirror newspaper on 26th February, entitled "Here We Quo Again" and written by Hannah Hope.

"Francis Rossi, 62, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster, both 63, and John Coghlan, 65, put their differences aside for Hello Quo, a new docu-film on the band to be released in October.

“It was quite an emotional day,” said an insider as the band held a one-off jamming session.

“It was as if they had never been apart. They were laughing and joking together like old times.”

Schoolmates Rossi and Lancaster started the band as The Spectres in South London in 1962.

Coghlan joined a year later and they became Status Quo when Parfitt joined in 1967.

Coghlan left in 1981 and there was a major bust-up (only resolved two years ago) when Rossi reformed Quo without Lancaster after Live Aid in 1985.

In all Status Quo have had 11 different members and 64 British chart hits, more than any other band."

The "reunion" was also covered by Classic Rock magazine for their next issue, which includes the following great photo of the band in Quo's rehearsal studio during filming for "Hello Quo" (hence the presence of Alan G Parker in this photo, next to Rick).
